About Me
I’m Mariel Swadden (she/her), a psychotherapist and registered social worker offering a calm, compassionate space for you to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I work with clients across Toronto and throughout Ontario virtually, and I’m committed to creating an environment where you can feel comfortable, understood, and supported without judgement.
I support individuals through challenges related to anxiety, self-esteem, identity, relationships, and life transitions. My approach is collaborative and grounded in empathy, meaning we’ll work together to explore what has been feeling difficult and find meaningful ways forward at a pace that feels right for you. I draw from a range of evidence-based techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, and more. Each person brings their own story, strengths, and needs, so I tailor my approach to fit you as an individual.
As a queer woman, and someone who has grown up in different cultural contexts, I value diversity, authenticity, and inclusivity in my practice. I have particular experience supporting members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, as well as people navigating questions of identity, belonging, and self-acceptance. I also bring a trauma-informed and sex-positive perspective to my work, rooted in respect and openness. Clients often describe me as warm, genuine, and easy to talk to, and my hope is that therapy with me feels safe enough for you to show up as you are, even when that feels uncertain or messy.
Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time near the water, discovering new music, and sharing good food and conversation with loved ones.
If you’re curious about working together, I invite you to book a free consultation to see if it feels like the right fit.
